Hello there!

Hello future Aggie! My name is Danielle and I was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, so naturally I’m a Packers Fan! However, I grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico where I attended NMSU and received BA degrees in Psychology and Communication Studies in 2004, and a MA in Higher Education Administration in 2009. I have been working in Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation since 2005. I love working for NMSU because I have the honor of helping students achieve their dreams. The energy and excitement of our students is contagious and I am so fortunate to be a part of it all. I love it here at NMSU and I know you will too! I look forward to meeting with you soon. Go Aggies!

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have attended a school outside of the U.S., we will need a foreign credential evaluation done by a NACES approved member for each transcript. If the official transcript is in a language other than English, you will also need to get the transcript translated to English. If you have not ordered this yet, we recommend using SpanTran as they have a student portal specifically for students applying to NMSU to ensure you order the correct translation and divisional course analysis evaluation. You can get to the portal at: SpanTran.

For full undergraduate admission to the university, NMSU requires a score of 520 (paper-based) or 68 (internet-based) or better on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or a score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or a score of 95 on the Duolingo English test for all international students both non-degree and degree seeking. A waiver of the TOEFL/IELTS requirement may be considered for eligible students.

International students are automatically considered out-of-state (although some scholarship and graduate assistantship recipients receive a waiver of the out-of-state costs), and, unlike domestic students, cannot qualify for residency. Tuition & fees during the summer sessions are always offered at in-state rates to all students. See current tuition figures on the University Accounts Receivable web page.

The International Competitive Scholarship offers qualifying students a discount to pay in-state tuition instead of out-of-state tuition (which is about 3 times lower), plus awards a $100 stipend cash award each fall and spring. The award is based on applicant’s GPA (grade point average) and TOEFL/IELTS scores. It is only awarded to new incoming, degree-seeking students on F-1 visa. Scholarship applications will be available only from: May 1st for the Fall Semester and October 1st for the Spring Semester.

Tentative admission means the applicant has been admitted to the university but has some conditions to fulfill before initial registration or during the first semester of enrollment. Some examples of tentative admissions are the requirement to provide final transcripts from their previous institution and/or foreign credential evaluation by a NACES-approved agency.
